Shannon Smith, the age of 23 currently loves the aqua life of aquatic animals. She loves the job of what she does, which is to make sure aquatic animals thrive and breed in captivity, whether their habitats are giant tanks at public parks, fish farms, or aquariums. How she got into being an aquaculture technician she went to Saddleback College in Mission Viejo. Her coursework includes water chemistry, biology, habitat design, and animal health. Her aquaculture skills helped her get a job at Doheny State Beach in Dana Point, Calif. Aquaculture technicians income levels vary with the specific job and the applicant’s experience, but generally start in the $14,000 to $29,000 range, but at a supervisory level yearly income can exceed $100,000.
